December 2008

Happy December everyone!!

Here is Ashley Jane at 20 months old... she'll be 21 months old in just a few days. She loves coats and shoes. She will go to the coat closet and get her coat and try to put it on by herself. That usually just consists of making a big ol' staticy mess out of her hair but it's fun to watch how independent she is becoming. She can put on her own shoes and pulls out matching pairs from her shoe drawer which consists of at least 15 pairs of shoes (all hand me downs).

Just a cute picture of Ashley in a head to toe pink outfit.
Here is a video of Ashley chasing and playing with our kitty, Sadie. I'm not sure why Sadie didn't run away...she just stayed and got pulled around by her tail and her leg and whatever Ashley could get a hold of.
Last weekend it snowed just a trace. Ashley and I were feeling cooped up in the house so we bundled up and went outside. It was maybe 20 degrees out. We started off playing on her slide but as bundled as she was she got annoyed with not being able to get back up once she landed at the bottom of the slide. This led me to think about pulling her around in a sled, which we did for a few minutes when I realized we have the most perfect sliding hill! We walked up the hill and I got her all set up in her slide and then I sent her a sailing. When she got to the bottom, she said, whoa. Then she and I climbed further up the hill and we went down the hill together. We were going so fast we actually made it across the street at the bottom of the hill and then half way into our yard. I haven't had that much fun on a sled since I was a kid. Ashley loved it and just said, more...more...more.
Here is a video of Ashley sliding down the hill. You will also notice that she has multiple layers of mittens on to keep her little hands warm. If you listen closely, you will hear her say, whoa, WHOA when she reaches the bottom of the hill.
Here's my little cookie monster saying cookies.

Here is a video of Ashley talking.
Ashley loves to wear our shoes these days. I'm not sure how she was able to move in daddys heavy boots but she did.

One last video of Ashley eating soup. It occurred to me as I watched her eat it that these table manners were not something she learned at home. I had to laugh as I recalled watching Ashley at daycare with 10 plus toddlers all sitting at the little table eating their cereal and drinking their milk from the bowl.

What else is new this month with Ashley? She had a spell with pneumonia for about 2 weeks but that has finally passed. She loves cookies. Ashley and I baked cookies at Grandma Terry's on 12/6 and Ashley couldn't get enough. Some of the cutest things I have heard her say to date is mu me daddy- which was excuse me daddy as she climbed over his leg. Daycare has taught her to say Yo. Now she lays in her crib and says, Yo daddy, Yo mama, Yo Molly (teacher at daycare). It's very cute. Ashley has also become obsessed with Elmo. One evening while we were eating dinner, we discovered that Sesame Street was on. We made the mistake of saying Ashley, who is that to which she replied ELMO! We were then stuck watching Sesame Street for the rest of dinner. This is the first time she has watched tv. Now, when we turn on the tv, she says Elmo? It's hard to explain to a 21 month old that Elmo isn't on the tv all of the time. Just as I had calmed her down...ELMO came on for a commercial and then 30 seconds later, he was gone. Boy was Ashley mad. We had to turn the tv off just to get her to stop saying ELMO, ELMO, ELMO!!

Happy Holidays!!
